]]>This is the story of a wayward uncle writing to his nephew of his adventures in the wild, searching for the White Lion, Emperor of the Snows.
I loved this book when I was a child, and still do so much. The pencil illustrations are beautiful, comic and slightly disturbing. Like Gormenghast, the story is grotesque, absurd and funny, with strange characters and a world askew to our own. Don't know if its still in print, this one is from 1976.
]]>The characters are grotesque, hilarious and beautiful all at the same time. Other works are better known, like St Trinians, but for me this is a very good example of his humour and masterful style.

Osbert was a political cartoonist and architectural historian. This book, published in 1976, was an omnibus of two of his more famous works, Pillar to Post and Homes Sweet Homes, which were published in the 50s.
