Vintage Book Review: A Cartoon History of Architecture by Osbert Lancaster

12 March 2019

This is one of the books I discovered when i was a youth, and I found it fascinating. The draughtsmanship and attention to detail is just brilliant. There is plenty of typological information, but it's full of humour and English wit.

Osbert was a political cartoonist and architectural historian. This book, published in 1976, was an omnibus of two of his more famous works, Pillar to Post and Homes Sweet Homes, which were published in the 50s.
